Selena Gomez appears to have fallen out with long term friend and kidney donor Francia Raisa after an apparent snub then played out on social media.
The Disney actress, 30, was battling autoimmune disorder Lupus — which causes the body's natural immune defences to attack healthy tissue — when her friend of 10 years, and fellow actress, Raisa, now 34, stepped up to offer her kidney and they underwent the transplant process in 2017.
But sparks have been flying since the surgery after Gomez appeared in a documentary, My Mind & Me, but gave no mention of Raisa, before later telling Rolling Stone that Taylor Swift was her only friend in the industry.
Raisa, who has starred in Bring It On: All or Nothing, The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Grown-ish, promptly unfollowed Gomez on Instagram and further branded the documentary "interesting" in the comments section of an E! News post.
''I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor,'' the Only Murders in the Building star told Rolling Stone magazine last week.
But the social media spat didn't end there as Gomez commented underneath a TikTok video that discussed how Raisa unfollowed her in the wake of being snubbed in the documentary.
''Sorry I didn't mention every person I know,'' Selena wrote in the comments leaving fans stunned.
But the apparent bitter feud shows just how far the pairs relationship has broken down despite them previously considering their relationship like 'sisters'.
At the time Gomez shared a picture of herself and her friend in side-by-side hospital beds writing a heart-felt thank you.
''There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa," Selena wrote. "She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.''
The actress previously described her deteriorating health situation prior to the surgery as she explained her 'kidneys were shutting down'.
She told The Today Show: "She lived with me during this interesting time where my kidneys were just done. That was it, and I didn’t want to ask a single person in my life. The thought of asking someone to do that was really difficult for me. She volunteered and did it. And let alone someone wanting to volunteer, it is incredibly difficult to find a match. The fact that she was a match, I mean that’s unbelievable. That’s not real.''
The former BFFs became close in 2008 when they were both dating one of the Jonas Brothers.
