Select your Newcastle United XI to face Everton at St James' Park

Newcastle United welcome Everton to St James' Park on Wednesday evening, looking to maintain their positive start to the season.

The Magpies head into the clash in the top six of the Premier League table, having lost just once so far this season, and they will head into the clash with the Toffees as heavy favourites.

But Eddie Howe will have to manage some injury concerns with both Allan Saint-Maximin and Alexander Isak ruled out for the visit of Everton. Jonjo Shelvey is back in the squad but is unlikely to be thrown in from the start as Newcastle continue to manage his injury.

Howe has a decision to make at left-back, as Dan Burn - typically a centre-half - struggled in the second half of Sunday's draw with Manchester United, and Matt Targett is ready to come back in.

With another game coming on Sunday, Howe may also be tempted to freshen up his midfield with Joe Willock likely to come back into the fray. Ryan Fraser and Elliot Anderson could also be viable replacements for Jacob Murphy if Howe wants to freshen up his front three.
