Select your Leeds United lineup to face Liverpool with key question to be answered

Marcelo Bielsa faces a couple of selection headaches as he prepares to take his Leeds United side to Anfield on Wednesday evening.

The Whites boss will be hoping to see a reaction from his players following the frustrating home defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

They have picked up just one point from their last four matches and have been dragged into the relegation battle at the bottom of the Premier League.

It will require a monumental effort from all involved to ensure that the run isn’t extended to five games against a Liverpool side who have lost only twice all season so far.

Although, before he has time to worry about what happens on the pitch, Bielsa will have to pick the team he feels has the best chance of securing a positive result.

He will be forced into one change as Robin Koch is unavailable as a result of the Premier League’s concussion protocols.

He sustained a nasty blow to the head following a coming together with Scott McTominay at the weekend and was showing signs of being concussed before being substituted.

It could see Bielsa choose to make the same alteration he made on Sunday as Pascal Struijk moved into the holding midfield role while the rest of the back four shuffled around to accommodate Junior Firpo’s introduction.

However, that plethora of changes in one go could be considered at fault for Leeds’ concession just a couple of minutes later.

Arguably the bigger decision that Bielsa will have to make involves the team’s star man, Raphinha, who was left out initially against the Red Devils.

He was brought on from the bench at half time and scored the equaliser, highlighting his importance to the side in the process.

His manager didn’t want to be drawn into discussions about his selections in his pre-match press conference but it would surely be a mistake to leave the influential Brazilian out for another massive game.

You can make your selections and pick the team you think Bielsa should choose for the trip to Anfield here.

Would you keep Struijk in the defence where he has been settled recently? Would you leave Raphinha on the bench? Would you start Joe Gelhardt against his boyhood club?

Let us know by picking your team above and feel free to justify your decisions in the comments below.
