The Palm House is set to launch a memory tree next week in honour of dementia action week.
Dementia Action Week is the Alzheimer society's biggest and longest running awareness campaign. Each year, they work with individuals and organisations across the UK to encourage people to ‘act on dementia’.
As part of a program of events funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Palm House will collect people’s memories as part of a growing exhibition. Each memory will be added to the tree that will grow throughout the week.

Photocopying facilities will be on offer, and visitors will be able to add their story or photograph to the tree from Monday, May 16. On Tuesday, May 17, free training for anyone who wishes to become a ‘Dementia Friend’ will also be on offer between 12-1pm.
Wednesday, May 18, will see games and conversations designed to increase wellbeing, with campaigners discussing how the Palm House was saved on Thursday, May 19. Laura Pilgrim, heritage project manager at Sefton Park Palm House Preservation Trust, said:
“People’s stories are so important to the history of the Palm House. It belongs to us all so whether you have had a wedding here, brought your children here when they were tiny or come to contemplative time with us we would like to hear about it.”
The event is free and you can find out more information on the Palm House website here. Donations are also welcome.
