The United Football League (UFL) kicked off its inaugural season over the weekend and several former members of the New York Giants took the field.
Among them was punter Brad Wing, who now plays for the San Antonio Brahmas.
Late in the second quarter of a game against the DC Defenders, Brahmas head coach Wade Phillips dipped into his bag of tricks and called for Wing to pass. What transpired was one of the wildest plays of the game and arguably, of the first week of UFL football.
Wing took the snap and went through multiple reads before firing a pass down the field to offensive lineman Alex Mollette, who shook off a tackle and plunged in for a 40-yard score.

“There’s supposed to be one, one route, and that was not the one,” Wing said after the game, via NBC Sports.
It was only the second pass attempt for Wing in his professional career. The first came in 2014 as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers and it was intercepted.
The 33-year-old Wing was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013. After a year with the Steelers, he was traded to the Giants for a seventh-round pick and spent the next three seasons in East Rutherford.
After being released by the Giants in March of 2018, Wing, a good friend of Odell Beckham Jr., made stops in the AAF and XFL before briefly returning to the NFL (Steelers) in 2023.
