A new Greek restaurant has opened in Newcastle's Eldon Square with the aim of bringing an "authentic taste of Greece" to Geordie diners.
The Real Greek welcomed its first customers through the doors on Tuesday, April 12 following a major revamp that has transformed the former Big Lukes site. The venue now features stunning floor-to-ceiling windows that provide a great view of Old Eldon Square, while the inside spans two levels and is decorated in the traditional Greek colours of blue and white.
The restaurant, which is the chain's first in the North East, also features a large outdoor seating area that is sure to be an attractive spot to enjoy drinks in the sunshine. Diners can expect everything from Greek meze dishes and flame-grilled meats to souvlaki wraps and salads.

And to celebrate its Newcastle opening, customers paying a visit this week will be able to enjoy 50% off the main food menu.
Nabil Mankarious, managing director at The Real Greek, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening another restaurant in the North of England and look forward to appealing to locals and visitors of Newcastle with our unique and authentic offering. With such a bustling location, we expect strong footfall.
"This is our next big step in expanding our popular offering in the north, and it marks our second opening of the year - so we are thrilled to be off to a strong start.”
The Newcastle restaurant will be The Real Greek's 24th restaurant in the UK, with branches across the country including Manchester. Restaurant bosses say the chain's variety of dishes "capture the Greek passion for food, family, and life and the freshness and health of the region".
The restaurant also offers pescatarian and vegetarian options and has a dedicated vegan menu.
