Following the assassination attempt on former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, sources have confirmed that five members of the Secret Service have been placed on administrative leave.
Among those placed on leave are one member of Trump's personal protective team and four members of the Secret Service's Pittsburgh Field Office, including the special agent in charge.
The security failure that allowed Thomas Matthew Crooks to fire shots from the nearby AGR building is currently under investigation by the elite agency.
During the incident, one bullet grazed Trump's right ear, and tragically, firefighter Corey Comperatore was fatally struck. Rally-goers James Copenhaver and David Dutch were also injured in the shooting.
Former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned in the wake of this incident, which has raised serious concerns about the security protocols in place to protect high-profile individuals.
