The Met Office has issued a second weather warning for Nottinghamshire in a week. It comes after yesterday's 'level 3' weather warning for the region and forecasters predicting minus figures for the next few days.
Yesterday, Tuesday, December 6, The Met Office and UK Health Security Agency issued a level 3 warning following a 90% probability of severe conditions between Wednesday, December 7 and Monday, December 12. Now, with temperatures predicted to plummet to -3, a second warning has been issued, this time for ice.
The warning states that Nottinghamshire could expect some disruption due to icy surfaces. Adding that residents in the area should "expect the probability of some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths". It also warned of the potential for some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

Yesterday's alert covered Nottinghamshire and other parts of England, including neighbouring counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. The Met Office said: "Rather cold conditions are expected to turn colder across much of the UK later Wednesday and through Thursday as air from the Arctic spreads south across the country. Very cold nights are expected, with widespread frosts and potentially severe frosts. Daytime temperatures persisting near or just above freezing, with overnight temperatures continuing to trend downwards. Wintry showers are also likely to affect some coasts, perhaps pushing into some inland areas at times, bringing a risk of icy patches."
Warnings of ice are currently in place for Wednesday, December 7, Thursday, December 8 and Friday December 9. However, the forecast shows temperatures as low as -3 between now and Monday, December 12.
Here are the predicted temperatures for Nottinghamshire between now and Monday.
- Wednesday - Highs of 4 degrees, lows of -2
- Thursday - Highs of 2 degrees, lows of -2
- Friday - Highs of 3 degrees, lows of -2
- Saturday - Highs of 2 degrees, lows of -2
- Sunday - Highs of 0 degrees, lows of -3
- Monday - Highs of 1 degree, lows of -2
