LUCKNOW: Police constable Raghvendra Singh (32) — who was injured in the shooting incident in Prayagraj in which BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case witness died — succumbed to bullet injuries at SGPGI in Lucknow on Wednesday evening.
Singh was deployed in Pal's security and was accompanying him when he was attacked.
Singh was the second police constable deployed in Pal's security to succumb to bullet injuries.
The CCTV footage of the incident reveals that at least a dozen men opened fire at Umesh Pal and his two guards Sandeep and Raghvendra on Friday.
While Umesh died on the spot, Sandeep succumbed to bullet wounds the same night.
Raghvendra was rushed to SGPGI in Lucknow on Sunday by forming a green corridor and was put on the life support system.
Assistant commissioner of police, Lines, Chirag Jain confirmed Singh's death.
“He was constable of 2016 batch and native of Lalganj in Rae Bareli district,” he said.
Chirag said that Singh was deployed in the security of Umesh Pal barely a month back.
Doctors at SGPGI Trauma Centre said that Singh was kept on a ventilator since the time he arrived.
“We tried everything to get the patient revived. His lungs were punctured and he had suffered multiple injuries,” they said.
