The seating bowl at MetLife Stadium was briefly cleared during a downpour about four hours before Norway and Senegal were scheduled to meet in a World Cup match on Monday night with possible flooding in the forecast.
The U.S. National Weather Service issued a flood watch for parts of New York City and New Jersey that included Bergen County, where MetLife Stadium is located. Roads leading to the stadium had standing water four hours prior to the scheduled 8 p.m. kickoff.
