Bristol Rovers are closing in on record-breaking season ticket sales as the momentum from their promotion triumph powers excitement ahead of their return to League One.
The promotion charge masterminded by Joey Barton saw the fanbase engulfed by euphoria, with the season ending in the most dramatic fashion with 4-3 and 7-0 wins over Rochdale and Scunthorpe respectively seeing the Gas snatch the third automatic promotion place from Northampton Town.
Strong ticket sales have been recorded as a result, with more than 4,500 snapped up already – the highest number on record for the past decade before the release of fixtures. The record for total sales in the past 10 years is the 5,056 sold in 2018/19 and the Gas are on track to beat that number.
Bristol Live understands it is possible season tickets will have to come off sale if they continue to be bought at the current rate.
Just 20 seats are left to be sold for season tickets with the East and West Stands sold out, although seating arrangements are flexible on a match-by-match basis depending on away allocations after the club announced plans to expand the Mem's capacity for next season.
The North East stand will be removed for next season to increase terrace capacity, with the family section relocated to the MKJ Group stand in the south west corner of the ground.
The successful sales drive follows strong interest last term, when the Gas sold around 4,000 season passes, hundreds more than any of their recent stays in League Two.
The average attendance at the Mem last season was in excess of 7,500, only bettered by Bradford City and Swindon Town, and the Gas sold more than 9,000 tickets in each of their final four games as they closed in on promotion to the third tier.
Prices for remaining season tickets, which can be bought here, start at £352 for adults.
