Search teams trawl River Irwell near spot where missing fire service watch manager was last seen

Police search teams have been trawling the River Irwell as the search to find a missing fire service watch manager continues. A specialist underwater unit was pictured near the water next to the The Lowry hotel this morning (Tuesday).

It is close to the area where Daniel Lee was last seen, on the other side of the river in Manchester city centre. Officers were also spotted taking a boat out onto the canal as part of the search.

Tactical Aid Unit officers were pictured trawling the surrounding area and searching bushes next to the water. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the operation was being carried out as part of the search for Daniel Lee.

The 41-year-old - who works as a watch manager for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) at Agecroft Station in Salford - was last seen in just after 1am yesterday morning (August 22). He was spotted walking past Saint Mary's Parsonage, near to Crazy Pedro's on Bridge Street, before going missing.

Police said yesterday they were becoming 'increasingly concerned' about him. Colleagues from the fire service have also shared missing appeals on social media, urging people to look out for Daniel.
