Seann Walsh shares why he is taking part in ITV I'm A Celebrity years after BBC Strictly scandal

Seann Walsh has shared the real reason he is taking part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here. Following one of the worst kept secrets, the comedian will be entering camp alongside former health secretary Matt Hancock during the next instalment of the ITV reality show on Wednesday night (November 9).

During Tuesday night's edition of the programme, co-hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly teed up the arrival of the two new campmates, which were confirmed to be Seann and Matt. The duo also informed the current celebrity contestants of the new arrivals as they broke the news that they would be undertaking the next trial.

Ahead of entering the jungle, in a teaser clip, Seann said: “It seems that every single person that does the jungle says it’s the best experience of their life. So I’m up for that, I’m up for the best experience of my life. Who wouldn’t be?"

He also added: "Over the years I’ve read a lot of things about myself and, you know, it does hurt and so I’d love for it to be a kind of new start and just maybe change opinions. That’d be really nice."

It is likely he is referring to his Strictly Come Dancing scandal in 2018 when he and pro partner Katya Jones were pictured in a clinch on a night out when they both had partners. But Seann has said that his new partner, Grace Adderley, made him realise going on the hit show in the jungle would finally be a chance to show viewers what he is really like.

"Grace is the main reason why I am doing I’m A Celebrity," Seann said after revealing he nearly turned down an offer to take part in this year’s I’m A Celeb because he was scared about what people would think of him. "As you can imagine I was very scared after the last time I was on a big show because the fallout was not something you would want to go back to.

"Grace talked me into doing it. She convinced me it was the wrong attitude to have, not doing it because I feared what people would think, but to do it because I would have a wonderful time." As for being crowned King of the jungle, Sean thinks it is highly unlikely this will happen. "I would be absolutely astounded," he admitted.

"I tend to be someone who doesn’t think about that sort of thing. I have learned in life to take it as it comes and maybe not expect too much. "I want to make some new friends and new memories and have a nice time"

At the end of the latest show, Ant and Dec shared their excitement over the imminent arrival of the new celebrities with the viewers, with Dec saying: "I can’t wait to get those two in there." To which Ant added: “That’s it from us. We’ll be back tomorrow night at nine to see how Seann Walsh and Matt Hancock get on in the trial."

During his own VT, Matt, 44, said "survival in the jungle is a good metaphor for the world I work in." Speaking in the video clip played at the end of the show, the MP said: "When I’m in camp, people will just see the real me. Survival in the jungle is a good metaphor for the world I work in.

"People will see me warts and all. See the human side of the guy behind the podium. I don’t think I’ve got any fears or phobias, but I’m about to find out."
