Seann Walsh shares 'embarrassing' truth behind his doomed decision to star on Strictly

Seann Walsh has shared the 'embarrassing' truth behind his doomed decision to appear on Strictly Come Dancing.

The 36-year-old comedian appeared on the BBC competition in 2018 where he performed with professional partner Katya Jones.

During his stint on the show, Seann sparked controversy when he shared a steamy kiss with Katya - while both stars were in long-term relationships.

Four years on from the controversy, Seann has written a brand-new show about his time on Strictly Come Dancing - which is provocatively titled, 'Kiss'.

During the his new stand-up comedy routine, Seann shared his reasoning for joining the Strictly line-up amid concern he didn't 'fit the bill' in the first place.

The comedian insisted that he was mortified and 'embarrassed' to admit that he agreed to do the BBC competition because he wanted so badly to 'be a star'.

During his new routine which has aired on YouTube, Seann explained: "When I was first announced for Strictly Come Dancing, a lot of people I knew were surprised - shocked even - that someone like me would agree to do such a show.

"In fact, the day it was announced, I went to the pub and a friend of a friend said to me in a rather sneering way: 'Why are you doing Strictly Come Dancing?"

"Here's the truth. And what I'm about to tell you is the most disgusting thing I will ever say. I went on the show because I wanted to be a star. It's embarrassing isn't it? I wanted to be a star."

Seann went on to explain that his 'life changed' when he was 10-years-old after he watched Jim Carrey's Ace Ventura for the first time.

From then on, Seann knew that comedy was his calling and he felt that if he agreed to do Strictly, his career would blossom.

However, following the kiss scandal with Katya, Seann insisted that he was 'crucified' by the public.

"When I was ten-years-old, I saw Ace Ventura Pet Detective for the first time and it changed my life. All I wanted to do was be Jim Carrey. I would practise his facial expressions in the mirror for hours and I'd learn all the lines to all the films like you did when you were a kid," he explained.

Popularity for the comedian quickly waned with viewers and he was voted off the show in week six, with many not forgiving him for the furore his snog with Katya had caused.

Seann's relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries ended in October 2018 and was later reported that Katya and her husband, fellow Strictly pro Neil Jones, had separated as an indirect result of the clinch.

While Katya appears to have moved on from the scandal, Seann admitted last year that he's still haunted by it and claims it "destroyed his dreams".
