Merab Dvalishvili registered arguably the biggest win of his career on Saturday when he overwhelmed former UFC champ Petr Yan in the UFC Fight Night 221 headliner.
After getting his hand raised against UFC Hall of Famer Jose Aldo in his previous outing, Dvalishvili (16-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC) extended his winning streak to nine consecutive fights courtesy of a unanimous decision over Yan (16-5 MMA, 8-4 UFC) in their bantamweight headliner at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas.
Dvalishvili is in a strong position after emerging triumphant from his first UFC main event, but the fact he won’t fight teammate and current champion Aljamain Sterling makes his situation particularly precarious.
