Kyren Williams had a huge performance against the Cardinals on Sunday, rushing for 158 yards on 20 carries with one touchdown. It was the best game of his career thus far, putting the offense on his back in the second half with 154 yards rushing in the final 30 minutes alone.
Williams did injure his ankle in the fourth quarter on his final carry, causing him to exit the game early. However, Sean McVay had a positive update on the stud running back after the 26-9 win, saying he expects Williams to be OK.
“I think he’s gonna be good. Just got his ankle tweaked at the end,” McVay said.
McVay said Williams “was running like an absolute man on a mission” Sunday, helping the Rams out with some huge plays. His biggest was a 31-yarder, which was one of just four runs of at least 10 yards by Williams in the second half alone. Prior to Sunday, he had just one run longer than 11 yards this season.
Ronnie Rivers, Williams’ backup, also left the game in the second half with a knee injury and he was unable to return, so we’ll have to wait and see what his status looks like moving forward.
