Sean Dyche let his players do the talking after a dismal second half collapse underpinned a damaging defeat to Newcastle United.
Everton capitulated at Goodison Park for the third time during this calendar year, conceding three goals in nine minutes as the away side ran riot. It was a disappointing conclusion to a game that had started with promise as an electric atmosphere spurred the home team into a positive start to the game.
But by the final whistle Everton had missed another opportunity to help the push for Premier League survival and suffered a result that inflicted further trouble on the club’s goal difference.

Speaking after the game, Dyche said he had spent little time in the dressing room in the immediate aftermath of the match. Instead, he said, having heard several of his players addressing their team-mates from his office at the ground, he believed it appropriate to let them do the talking.
Dyche addressed the media around an hour after the final whistle. When it was suggested he had spent a significant amount of time in the dressing room as a result, he said he actually let other people speak to the players in the immediate aftermath.
He said: “A couple of the players were talking, I wasn’t in there very long…they shared a couple of thoughts about the performance and what should change.”
Asked whether that had been a deliberate approach, he added: “I could just hear them from my room so I left them to it and then I went in and summarised some of the stuff I heard.”
