Sean Dyche responds after Everton accused of financial rule breach by Premier League

Sean Dyche has refused to be drawn on Everton being referred to an independent commission by the Premier League.

It was confirmed on Friday that Everton have been referred to the commission over an alleged breach of profit and sustainability rules. The Premier League did not reveal the specifics of the club's alleged breach, other than saying it occurred in the period ending with the 2021/22 season.

Following the announcement by the Premier League, Everton released a statement in which they issued a defiant riposte, insisting they are 'entirely confident' that the club 'remains compliant with all financial rules and regulations'.

Jordan Pickford became the first person connected to the club to speak publicly about the referral while away on international duty with England over the weekend, before Dyche was asked about it during his pre-Tottenham Hotspur press conference on Thursday afternoon.

Asked for his thoughts, he replied: "There's no situation at the moment. The club statement, I think, covers everything. Things before my time, they've covered in the club statement. I'm happy to go along with that and more focused on what's happening on the pitch, quite obviously.

"The rest is down to the powers that be to do anything they need to do. The club have just assured me the statement is correct and then, as I said, the rest of it will go down to the powers that will be."

Probed as to whether the alleged breaches will impact the Blues' summer spending, Dyche added: "Not that I know of. I think at the minute we're really focusing on what's going on now."
