Sean Dyche explains why he has been attending Nottingham Forest games

Sean Dyche has explained why he has been attending Nottingham Forest games.

The former Burnley boss has been out of a job since April after departing Turf Moor. Prior to the Reds offering Steve Cooper a fresh three-year deal, it was reported that Dyche had sent his former assistant manager Ian Woan to watch Premier League clubs, including the likes of Leicester City and Forest.

Reds boss Cooper looked set to go after their poor start to the season, and reports claimed Woan was asked to keep an eye on the Reds "in case their situation changed."

But he has since spotted watching some of Forest's games himself. Speaking on The Athletic's Football Podcast, Dyche explained: "I’ve been down to Barnsley where Mike Duff is to have a look.

"I’ve also been to Forest a few times to have a look at them. But, it’s not down to scoping anything out as such.

"It’s more to learn and see how other people and coaches do things. It’s only in the last couple of months that I’ve perhaps been having a closer look at what is in the marketplace.

"I can’t seem to go to watch Forest without people thinking there is an ulterior motive. I live in Nottingham though and they happen to be my closest team."
