Sean Dyche admits Celtic star Joe Hart was 'raging' after controversial Burnley decision

Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart was apparently left 'raging' at Sean Dyche's decision to drop him from Burnley's first team back in 2018 despite showing good form.

Hart had won every domestic honour possible at Manchester City under Manuel Pellegrini as he earmarked his place as one of the Premier League's finest shot-stoppers, before the arrival of Pep Guardiola as manager brought Hart's career at the Etihad to an end over doubts to his passing ability.

Failed loan spells at West Ham and Torino saw him wind up in the idyllic east Lancashire hills, where he was afforded a second permanent home in the top-flight under the guidance of the gravel-sounding ginger boss. However, despite the now-sacked Clarets boss claiming that Hart didn't actually do anything wrong to warrant being dropped from the starting XI, he was replaced by Tom Heaton - much to Hart's dismay.

"Joe Hart, by the way. Joe's took some heat I'll tell you, but he was a fantastic operator for us. Brilliant. His manner was excellent," Dyche told Ben Foster's Fozcast .

"In the end, he was in an unfortunate position. He was playing great for us you know, but we were struggling like mad and the only thing I hadn't changed was the keeper.

"I said to him 'Joe, look, you're the only thing I haven't changed', and he was raging and obviously rightly so! But I went 'Joe, it's my job, it's to make decisions.'

"I put Tom back in, and Joe was obviously thinking 'oh brilliant' - but great operator. But we had Heats [Tom Heaton], Nick [Pope] and Joe [Hart] - that's a good three."

Hart since moved to Tottenham where he was understudy to Hugo Lloris, before Ange Postecoglou made Parkhead his permanent home last summer, picking up two domestic trophies in the process.
