Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs appeared in a Manhattan federal court on Thursday, October 10, 2024, where Judge Arun Subramanian set his trial date for May 5, 2025.
This marks Combs’ third court appearance since his arrest and his first before Judge Subramanian, who recently took over the case after Judge Andrew Carter recused himself.
Combs is facing serious federal charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Attorney Tony Buzbee, representing over 120 alleged victims, has warned that several A-list personalities are linked to controversial “freak off” parties allegedly hosted by Combs, and claims this is where the majority of the crimes have taken place.
During the hearing, Combs was present in the courtroom along with several family members. He was wearing a beige jail uniform with ankle shackles, but appeared in good spirits, smiling and waving to his family.
Prosecutor Emily Johnson stated that the prosecution expects their case to last about three weeks, while Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo estimated the defense presentation would take approximately one week.
However, Johnson noted that the trial’s length could change if additional charges are added, as the investigation is ongoing.
The prosecution revealed that over 100 electronic devices have been seized from Combs’ properties, and they are still working to extract data from them. This ongoing investigation could potentially lead to more charges being filed against the rapper.
Combs’ legal team has expressed a desire to expedite the trial process, particularly since he has been denied bail on two occasions. Currently, Combs is in federal custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while awaiting his trial.
