Sean Combs, the music mogul also known as P Diddy, was arrested in New York by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The arrest comes after a grand jury indicted Combs on sexual assault allegations.
TMZ has reported that the arrest took place on Monday night at a hotel lobby in Manhattan, in connection to the ongoing criminal investigation into Combs.
According to The New York Times, the details of the indictment against the 54-year-old rapper are sealed and the specific charges are not yet clear.
According to the publication, Combs has been taken to the FBI office in New York, with federal officers currently searching his hotel and home.
Combs has faced major allegations of sex trafficking and sexual assault over the last year, following a lawsuit from his former girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura.
Combs has denied all allegations against him, and the 2023 lawsuit was settled out of court. Following Ventura’s lawsuit, more women stepped forward with historic allegations against the Bad Boy Records founder.
This is the first time Sean Combs has been arrested in relation to these major allegations. Last year search warrants were executed at his homes in Beverly Hills and Miami.
Speaking to TMZ, Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo said that they are “disappointed” by the “unjust prosecution” and arrest.
“[Combs] is an imperfect person but is not criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges,” Agnifilo said.
The lawyer added that Sean Combs “looks forward to clearing his name in court”.
More to come.
