Sean Clifford was emotional in his Penn State curtain call after a masterful Rose Bowl performance

What a way to go out in your final college football game.

On Monday, the Penn State Nittany Lions bested the Utah Utes 35-21 in the Rose Bowl off the back of Sean Clifford’s brilliant final game as quarterback in blue and white. Clifford, who has been Penn State’s starter for the last four seasons, put together an all-timer of a final performance, going 16 of 21 for 279 yards and two touchdowns.

In fourth quarter garbage time, Clifford left the field for the final time as Penn State’s quarterback in a send off to remember. In his final curtain call, Clifford got quite emotional as Penn State fans serenaded him off with a standing ovation.

Oh man, pass the tissues please! What a way to end it, honestly. Clifford had an up-and-down career at Penn State, but completely balled out in his final game, punctuating it with the Rose Bowl’s longest touchdown that put the game away for the Nittany Lions at the start of the fourth.

Clifford ends his Penn State career leading nearly every major franchise record after beginning his time with the team way back in 2018.

Congratulations on an accomplished college career, Clifford!
