The Seattle Seahawks have one of the best statistical quarterbacks this season. Through the first month of the season, Geno Smith leads the entire NFL in passing yards with 1,182 yards through the air.
Smith has been absolutely flourishing in offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s system, as he has played nothing short of sublime football. Smith was able to claim the top spot in this statistical category after his stellar performance on Monday Night Football. Against the Detroit Lions, Smith set a career-best with 395 yards passing with 38 completions.
But MNF has not been the only examples of Smith’s greatness thus far. In Week 2 against the New England Patriots, Smith had 327 yards, and followed it up in Week 3 with another 289 at home versus Miami. The only time this year Smith has been held under 200 yards passing was in Week 1 with only 172.
Geno Smith does not get the respect he is due in the national conversation. Perhaps it is still folks who are holding his days with the New York Jets against him. Or maybe because the Seahawks are tucked away in the Pacific Northwest and fans outside of the west coast simply do not pay much attention. Whatever it may be, the 12th Man is tired of their quarterback being overlooked.
If Smith is able to keep up this incredibly high level of play, the two-time Pro Bowler might not be overlooked for much longer.
