The Seattle Seahawks announced in June they would be wearing their beloved throwback uniforms during their Week 8 game against the Cleveland Browns. Well guess what week it is, 12s? That’s right, it’s Browns week, and you know it only means one thing: for the first time since the 2001 season, the throwback uniforms are finally making their comeback!
Retro jerseys were always apart of Seahawks gameday among the 12th Man over the years. But if you visit Lumen Field on Sundays now, royal blue is everywhere. It’s not just the fans who are excited, but the players are hyped as well.
Following Seattle’s 20-10 win over the Cardinals, I had the opportunity to ask several players how they were feeling about wearing them. There was a clear consensus, as they all lit up with smiles when talking about the throwback threads.
I asked several players on Sunday if they were excited to wear the throwback uniforms. Their collective answer was a resounding yes! Geno and Bobo both proudly wore the classic Chuck Knox hat. pic.twitter.com/6XOgqInfBL

Below are the comments from the players I interviewed when I asked the question “are you excited to wear the throwbacks next week?” It’s only fitting I start with the man the team picked to be the “face” of the official launch for the throwbacks.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba: “They look good, huh? I appreciate the media team for doing that, I know how big that is for our fans, the 12’s. Look good, feel good, play good!”
Geno Smith: “Super excited, can’t wait to have them on and see the fans! Everyone’s going to be excited about them.”
Jake Bobo: “I’m very excited, (the hat) is courtesy of equipment manager Erik Kennedy. (He) asked me if I wanted it, of course I’m going to say yeah! Big week, big week!”
Kenneth Walker III: “Yeah, definitely. We had a 90’s themed shoot some months ago. I like the throwbacks, it’s probably my favorite uniform right now.”
Jamal Adams: “I am! I am looking forward to that. I gotta work on my cleat game right now. Trying to customize something right now, hopefully I can get it in time, but I’m definitely looking forward to it.”
Of course, Adams might have some competition from one of his defensive teammates when it comes to the cleat game…
Jordyn Brooks: “Oh I can’t wait! I’ve got some cleats (to wear) in mind, will probably be the best on the team. Can’t wait to put those out.”
Bobby Wagner: “I am extremely excited to wear the throwbacks. I still think we should have black jerseys, but I am not going to complain.”
For those who do not know, Wagner has long been an advocate for an all-black Seahawks alternate uniform. While such a look could be cool, especially with some neon accents, I think it’s safe to say everyone is happy with the retro uniforms.
