The Seahawks will be hosting the Eagles on Monday night. While we are feeling an upset, it would definitely not come as a surprise if they got stomped on both sides of the line of scrimmage and lost by a lot more than three-point spread.
Since we can’t mock a way for Pete Carroll not to punt on fourth and 2 from the opponent’s 45-yard line, the best way to improve this team may be to upgrade the offensive and defensive lines as much as possible in the draft. With that in mind, in our latest seven-round mock we picked all linemen…
Pick No. 13: Washington EDGE Bralen Trice
Deepening and sharpening the edge rotation should be the first item on the list. One of the top outside linebackers in the class is Bralen Trice (6-foot-4, 260 pounds), who would add another disruptive pass rusher to the mix. In 32 games at Washington he has posted 16 sacks and 25.5 tackles for a loss.
Pick No. 76: Clemson DL Ruke Orhorhoro
Seattle has the makings of a strong interior rotation in place, but they’ll need to go for broke in order to catch up with teams like the Eagles. Adding Clemson’s Ruke Orhorhoro (6-foot-4, 295 pounds) might help. Over the last three seasons he’s totaled 11.5 sacks and 24 tackles for a loss, plus nine pass breakups.
Pick No. 77: Ohio State EDGE Jack Sawyer
Back to the edge with the next pick – just in case younger edge rushers like Derick Hall don’t work out they’ll likely want to add another. Ohio State’s Jack Sawyer (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) has improved each season, totaling 11 sacks and 16.5 tackles for a loss for with the Buckeyes.
Pick No. 113: Notre Dame OT Blake Fisher
After spending the first three picks on defensive linemen, we shift over to the other side of the ball here. Our first offensive line selection goes to Notre Dame’s Blake Fisher (6-foot-6, 313 pounds), who might at least rove to be a better backup behind Charles Cross and Abe Lucas than Stone Forsythe has.
Pick No. 150: Kansas State G Cooper Beebe
Guard has to be on the Seahawks’ list as well, with both Damien Lewis and Phil Haynes set to become free agents in March. Kansas State’s Cooper Beebe (6-foot-4, 335 pounds) might help keep Geno Smith clean better than the current guards can. Beebe has not allowed a sack in over 800 pass blocking snaps.
Pick No. 191: LSU G Miles Frazier
Rookie guard Anthony Bradford has shown some potential as a run blocker, but he’s also still really raw. Drafting another guard might be overkill considering their other needs, but they might just want to start over with another LSU product here. Miles Frazier (6-foot-6, 335 pounds) has experience starting at several different spots up front.
Pick No. 234: Texas A&M C Bryce Foster
The Seahawks will likely look to rookie Olu Oluwatimi to start at center next season in place of Evan Brown, who’s also about to hit free agency. Drafting Texas A&M’s Bryce Foster (6-foot-5, 330 pounds) offers another young option inside.
