Seahawks overtake 49ers to take lead in NFC West

We have a change in the top of the NFC West. After the San Francisco 49ers led the division for the first seven weeks, they have fallen to second place.

The Seattle Seahawks, the only team in the division to win a game in Week 8, now has a half-game lead.

Here is what the NFC West standings look like entering Week 9:

  1. Seattle Seahawks, 5-2 (1-1 division)
  2. San Francisco 49ers, 5-3 (2-0 division)
  3. Los Angeles Rams, 3-5 (2-1 division)
  4. Arizona Cardinals, 1-7 (0-3 division)

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks scored 17 first-quarter points and, despite two Geno Smith interceptions, held on for 24-20 win.

Browns quarterback P.J. Walker turned the ball over three times.

 

San Francisco 49ers

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow threw three touchdown passes and 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had three turnovers, fumbling once and throwing two interceptions. The Bengals won their third straight game, beating the 49ers 31-17.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams could not stop the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. They fell behind 33-3 and lost 43-20 as Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals took an early 7-0 lead but Josh Dobbs was picked off twice in a 31-24 lead. They rallied back from down 24-7 to pull within seven points but they lost their fifth straight game.

  • The Seahawks will be on the road to face the 6-2 Ravens.
  • The 49ers have their bye week.
  • The Rams face the 2-5 Packers on the road.
  • The Cardinals face the 4-3 Browns on the road.
