Sunday was a fantastic day for the Seattle Seahawks. Not only did they have their most complete victory of the season with their 34-14 dismantling of the Atlanta Falcons, they also moved back into sole possession of first place in the NFC West.
I understand most folks are fairly tired of seeing the Kansas City Chiefs win so many games, but when they play the San Francisco 49ers, the Chiefs gain an entire new fanbase in the Pacific Northwest. Kansas City, in a rematch of February’s Super Bowl LVIII, traveled to the Bay Area to face off against the 49ers.
The Chiefs took care of business on the road and defeated San Francisco to the tune of 28-18, and quite frankly, it was not as close as the final score might suggest. Although it was a defensive affair for three quarters, Kansas City kicked it into overdrive during the fourth. The Chiefs had built up a 28-12 lead, and San Francisco did not score until there was 1:14 left on the clock.
It was a particularly brutal day for Brock Purdy, which 12’s everywhere should love to see. Purdy completed 17-of-31 passes for 212 yards, no touchdowns but three interceptions.
Now, San Francisco falls to 3-4 on the year and into second place in the NFC West. Los Angeles and Arizona are tied for last place at 2-4, with the Cards having a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Rams.
