The results are now in from NFL.com’s annual general manager power rankings ahead of the draft and Seattle Seahawks GM John Schneider lands in the middle of the pack at No. 17.
“Seahawks ownership ultimately decided to keep Schneider/Pete Carroll and let them trade Russell Wilson,” writes Gregg Rosenthal. “Not the choice I would’ve made — gimme Wilson. And I would not adopt trading away your best players for draft picks as a strategy worth pursuing with DK Metcalf, especially when there have been so few good selections in the last five years.”
Perhaps Schneider will be able to climb back up the rankings if the Seahawks are able to make the most of the drat capital they received in exchange for the Wilson trade to Denver. As of now, Seattle is set to pick at No. 9 overall in the first round . . . will Schneider trade up, down or make a selection?
As for Rosenthal’s general manager rankings, Brandon Beane/Sean McDermott of the Bills topped the list followed by Les Snead of the Rams.
