The Seahawks announced four roster moves today as they begin preparing for Sunday’s divisional matchup with the Cardinals.
Here’s a quick review of today’s transactions.
Signed to active roster: WR Cody Thompson
The biggest news is that wide receiver Cody Thompson has been signed to the 53-man roster after being elevated from the practice squad the last two weeks. Thompson has been operating as the team’s fifth wide receiver behind DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jake Bobo. So far he’s played 20 snaps on offense and 66 on special teams.
Signed to practice squad: WR Cody White
Taking Thompson’s place on the practice squad will be wide receiver Cody White – no not the former first-round pick. This White (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) went undrafted out of Michigan State and spent the last two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Like Thompson, he’s also put in more time on special teams than on offense in his career.
Re-signed to practice squad: OT Greg Eiland
The Seahawks have also once again re-signed offensive lineman Greg Eiland to their practice squad. This could be a sign that we will see veteran left tackle Jason Peters called up to the active roster on Sunday.
Released from practice squad: QB Holton Ahlers
To make room for Eiland and White, Seattle had to cut one player from the practice squad and once again it’s undrafted rookie quarterback Holton Ahlers. He has been cut for the third time this season.
