Sead Haksabanovic to Celtic transfer fee revealed as Rubin Kazan forced to slash price tag

Rubin Kazan massively dropped their price tag for Sead Haksabanovic to get the midfielder off their books ahead of his imminent move to Celtic.

Parkhead boss Ange Postecoglou admitted after the Premiership win over Hearts on Sunday a deal for the Rubin Kazan star was “getting close” and the 23-year-old has already visited Lennoxtown to finalise his contract with the Scottish champions as he irons out the last details. Haksabanovic has been a long-term target for Celtic with the club missing out on the Montengro international when he made his big-money move to Russia from Swedish side IFK Norrkoping.

Rubin reportedly splashed a whopping €6.5million (£5.4million) to bring the versatile winger to the Russian Premier League, but endured a lacklustre campaign which saw them relegated from the top flight. Haksabanovic missed the majority of the campaign as he returned to Sweden following Russia's invasion of Ukraine as he spent time on loan at Djurgardens.

He has not returned to Kazan for the new campaign, instead training with the Swedish side to keep up match fitness as he searched for a new club. Russian outlet Sport Business Gazeta claims these factors have forced Rubin to accept a €2million (£1.7million) offer from Celtic.

Haksabanovic is not expected to be the final arrival of the summer in Glasgow's east end. Postecoglou is also keen on adding another midfielder, and could look to add another striker if forgotten frontman Albian Ajeti is moved on.
