Scrutiny over ex-Melbourne mayor's award

Ex-Melbourne lord mayor Robert Doyle could lose his Companion of the Order of Australia award. (AAP)

Disgraced former Melbourne lord mayor Robert Doyle could be stripped of a high-ranking Australian award after he was found to have behaved in a sexually inappropriate way towards women.

A request has been made to the Council of the Order of Australia to revoke Mr Doyle's Companion of the Order of Australia, which he received in 2017 for "eminent service" to the people of Melbourne through local government and his contribution to youth, social welfare and medical research foundations.
