Local foodies and visitors alike will be able to enjoy a mouth-watering array of dishes on offer in Sunderland this month, when a weekend packed with high-quality cuisine lands in the North East.
Scrantastic is heading back to Houghton-le-Spring's Broadway and Rectory Park on May 28 and 29, with an abundance of local food and drinks vendors taking part to bring a two day event packed with family fun.
And well-known celebrities and chefs alike will also be present at the event, with demonstrations taking place from This Morning's Rosemary Shrager and Phil Vickery, as well as Great British Bake Off finalist Laura Adlington.
A food and drink market will be on full display across The Broadway itself, with exemplary produce from local traders, as well as 'specialty' food and drinks from nearby vendors.
Local businesses such as Fat Hippo, Acropolis Street Food and Twisted Chick will be present to display their sumptuous street foods to visiting parties, while a handful of other produce manufactures will be able to sell their fresh goods.
Additionally, quaint jewellers and knick-knack shops will also be at the event itself, with an array of gifts and treats on offer.
Chief Executive of Sunderland City Council, Patrick Melia, said: "We're delighted to be bringing Scrantastic Food Festival back to Houghton-le-Spring next month.
"The line up of celebrity chefs, delicious food, fantastic local produce and programme of free family entertainment will truly offer something for everyone. Visitors will be well catered for with a wide variety of food including vegan options and tasty treats to take home too.
"Make sure you pay Scrantastic a visit on 28 and 29 May as this is an event not to be missed."
