Scottish tech firm begins looking for 60 new roles

Edinburgh-based hospitality tech firm Zonal is recruiting to fill more than 60 roles across the UK.

The company will be holding a recruitment fair on 23 June at the Apex Grassmarket Hotel.

Many of the new positions are in the research and development arm of the firm, which reflects Zonal’s drive to ensure that its systems remain cutting edge.

Available jobs include developers, testers, business analysts, and help centre analysts, as well as platform engineers and solution and data architects.

Zonal is one of the largest suppliers of specialist hospitality technology to pubs, restaurants and hotels.

The technology includes point of sale units, online ordering, booking systems, kitchen management, stock control and other customer engagement tools, such as loyalty and vouchering.

Catriona Dick, head of HR at Zonal, said: "We’re delighted to announce this recruitment fair in Edinburgh and are excited to meet new faces and to welcome more people into the Zonal family."

Zonal was formed in 1979, when the McLean family needed a solution to solve stock control issues in their Edinburgh hotel. The solution was the very first electronic-point-of-sale (EPoS) system on the market, invented by founder, the late Ralph McLean.

This early EPoS system was adopted by Scottish & Newcastle, which rolled it out across a network of pubs. The company now counts JD Wetherspoon, Greene King, PizzaExpress, Macdonald Hotels, The Restaurant Group, Dobbies Garden Centres and Bourne Leisure among its 16,000 clients.

Ralph handed the reins over to his son, Stuart, who became chief executive of Zonal in 1997.
