A Fife teacher has been accused of using racist language, mocking children and having inappropriate conversations while employed at Beath High School.
The female, whose name is not yet known, has various claims against her which are set to be assessed by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) beginning May 9. These include making comments regarding God, mocking a pupil with dyslexia, and showing ‘offensive and inappropriate’ material.
These accusations cover the period between December 2017 and February 2018. It has not yet been decided whether the woman will be banned from teaching.

The pre-hearing information reads: “Between December 2017 and February 2018 while employed by Fife Council as a teacher of English at Beath High School, the teacher made comments regarding God which were upsetting to pupils.
“Mocked her pupil as a result of her dyslexia. Showed a number of videos to pupils which were not relevant, included offensive language and were not age appropriate.
“Had discussions on the subject of drugs and alcohol that portrayed these in a positive light. Told her class an anecdote about being asked to purchase pornography.
“Used and condoned racist language in the classroom, in that she: used the word n**** in discussions and allowed pupils to use the word n**** without objection.”
In conclusion, the GTCS said: “In light of the above it is alleged that the teacher's fitness to teach is impaired, and she is unfit to teach.”
Sharon McKenzie, Fife Council's Head of HR, said: "As a responsible employer, we don't discuss the individual circumstances of any current or former employees."
This comes after news of a married Fife teacher from Levenmouth Academy having an alleged 18 month affair with a pupil.
Dr Iain David Bryant was a chemistry teacher at the school when he supposedly struck up an illicit relationship with a student in October 2017, which began with a kiss in his classroom. The two then allegedly met up in a Travelodge after she turned 18.
He now faces a five day hearing from the GTCS, although opted not to attend the first day.
