MORE than three quarters of Scottish salmon farms certified as “sustainable” broke the environmental rules of the certifying body last year without losing their accreditation, The Ferret can reveal.
We examined inspection reports published by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) – which certifies “highest standard” farms with a public-facing “green tick” – and found there have been breaches of its rules at dozens of fish farms.
