Scottish Power sent teen mum £2.5k energy bill leaving her broken and in tears

A mum was left in tears after receiving a £2,500 energy bill - being charged £996 for just one month.

Shannon McBarron, 18, from Crewe, lives with her 15-month-old son in a small council flat and received the shocking update on her Scottish Power account on Thursday morning.

The single mum had already made a complaint on Monday (November 7) when she was charged £996 for October, leaving her account £886.41 in the red - despite her monthly bill never usually being more than £45.
