Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre leads Ryder Cup teammates in 500 Miles singalong

SCOTTISH golfer Robert MacIntyre was filmed leading a singalong to a classic Proclaimers song following Europe’s win at the Ryder Cup.

The Scot, who is originally from Oban, picked up 2.5 points from three games over the weekend as he helped Europe to a victory over the US.

Following his victory, he tweeted an image of himself holding the trophy with the caption: “Just a wee lad from Oban.”

First Minister Humza Yousaf reposted the image and said: “Love this! The pride of Scotland, well done @robert1lefty and Team Europe.”

A video was later circulated on the Ryder Cup Europe Twitter/X account showing MacIntyre leading his teammates in a singalong of 500 Miles on the team bus.

It marked the Scot’s first appearance at the prestigious golf tournament and speaking after the tournament, he said: “I knew the buzz was going to be incredible but the main thing was to win the Ryder Cup back and that’s what we did.

“It’s everything. It means so much to my family and friends as well. There was a big crowd from home that came over and I’m just glad we could get it done.

“It was nervy. I was doing well early and made a little mistake coming in there. I just hung in and accepted what was going to be was going to be and I managed to nick a few holes on the back nine.

“I’m delighted.”
