Scottish dog leaps from second floor flat window after seeing owner in street

An excited dog has been left with two broken legs after jumping out of a flat window when he saw his owner outside.

Noodle, an Italian Whippet and Greyhound cross, spotted his human Alfie Harrison moments before plunging from the second floor window of Alfie's brother's flat.

Alfie, from Stirling, has been left with a whopping £8,000 bill after vets were able to set Noodle's bones and fit metal plates into each broken leg.

The 24-year-old, who studies Aquaculture, told the Record: "I was visiting my brother at his university in Falmouth and I asked him to watch Noodle while I went down to the car to get a few things.

"He turned his back for a minute and Noodle jumped onto a chair and looked out the window. I looked up and locked eyes with him and the next minute he just jumped towards me. There was a massive drop from the window to the carpark but he didn't realise that - he just saw me and wanted to be with me.

"I just saw this grey blur falling down and two minutes later he hit the ground. I ran towards him and he was making the most horrific sounds. I could see his legs had snapped and he was in so much pain."

Frantic Alfie managed to splint Noodle's legs with help from his brother and neighbours before he rushed his pet to the nearest veterinary hospital.

When they arrived, Alfie was told his beloved dog would need emergency surgery to survive, but unfortunately, Noodle was not insured and the costs have left his owner with serious financial stress.

Aflie said: "I have an autistic spectrum disorder and Noodle helps me so much with that and also with my anxiety. He is such a massive part of my life and I just couldn't say no to the surgery. He is my best friend."

Noodle spent a few days in the veterinary hospital but is now back at home in Stirling recovering from his injuries and is receiving medication every three hours.

Devastated Alfie has managed to borrow some money towards the vet bill from family members towards the surgery and has also sold some of his personal belongings.

Friends of Alfie's have also set up a fundraising page to help pay for his treatment.
