THE Scottish company BrewDog has made a special beer to celebrate England’s involvement in the Euros.
While the brewery and pub chain is based in Aberdeenshire, the company appears to be cheering on England as well as Scotland in this summer’s Euros.
It has created two limited edition cans of its Punk IPA – one called Three Lions for England, and another called Tartan Army for Scotland.
A pack of four cans of either design are available on their website for £12.99.
However, the messaging on the cans appears to be more optimistic about England’s chances than Scotland’s.
The England can reads: “Three Lions, It’s Coming Home IPA”.
But Scotland’s can simply states: “Tartan Army, Loud and Proud IPA”.
The descriptions also differ.
While those looking to purchase the England can are told to “pledge allegiance to Gareth’s boys with our specially designed Punk IPA”, Scotland fans are told to simply “get behind Scotland”.
Under the product info section for the Scotland can, it also states that “products will not come with ‘Three Lions England Euros Edition’ branded packaging”.
Well, I’d certainly hope not.
It comes after BrewDog co-founder James Watt announced that he would be stepping down from the role of chief executive after 17 years.
In 2022, BrewDog announced its "anti-sponsorship" of the Fifa World Cup in Qatar, criticising the treatment of migrant workers in the country and the illegality of homosexuality.
The profits from the sale of its Lost Lager during the tournament were also donated to human rights charities.
However, the company continued to sell beer in Qatar and screened the matches in its bars.
