Scott Parker lands Champions League job as he is named new manager of Belgian giants Club Brugge

Scott Parker has been appointed as the new manager of Belgian giants Club Brugge.

Parker has been out of work since being sacked by Bournemouth in August but the 42-year-old will now be managing in the Champions League.

Former Fulham manager Parker replaces Carl Hoefkens, who was sacked following a disappointing domestic run.

Hoefkens was dismissed despite Brugge qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League, where they face Benfica in February.

Parker, the former Charlton, Chelsea, West Ham, Tottenham, Fulham and England midfielder, takes over with Brugge fourth in the Belgian league, 12 points behind leaders Genk.

Parker was sacked by Bournemouth in August, three months after he had guided them to promotion back to the Premier League.

His time in charge of the south coast club ended following their 9-0 humbling against Liverpool at Anfield.

Parker has been linked with the Norwich job but he has decided on a move abroad.
