Former Hibs striker Tam McManus expects to see Scott Brown in a managerial job by the start of next season.
And he wouldn't be shocked to see his former team-mate take up a role in his home kingdom of Fife.
Brown left Aberdeen in March after seeing his coaching responsibilities reduced by new boss Jim Goodwin – before officially retiring from playing last week.
The Dunfermline-born midfielder spent 14 years at Celtic, captaining the club to a plethora of domestic silverware.
But it was at the beginning of his career he crossed paths with McManus who isn't convinced when it comes to his chances at taking the vacant Easter Road hotseat.
However he believes there's every chance Brown will return home to start his career in the dugout with John McGlynn having recently left Raith Rovers for Falkirk while Dunfermline Athletic have just been relegated to League One under John Hughes, who remains in post.
Speaking on PLZ, McManus said: “I don’t think Hibs can afford to muck this one up now.
“In relative terms, because I don’t think they gave Shaun Maloney enough time, but they’ve got to go with an experienced manager and give him time. They’ve got to give him two or three windows.
“If Derek McInnes comes in a lot of Hibs supporters wouldn’t be happy with that but they’re hard to please.
“Going back to Scott Brown, I think he’ll be in a management job in the summer.
“He’s from Fife, so maybe somewhere in that region.”
Put to him that the Raith Rovers job is currently vacant, McManus shrugged: “I didn’t say that…”
