Scots thug brandished taser during 'mysterious' gang attack on chef in street

A Scots thug brandished a taser after being recruited to take part in a “mysterious” attack on a chef by a gang of men.

Frazer Scott leapt from a car along with two others to target victim Ross Duncan in an Edinburgh street.

The 35-year-old wielded a taser - which was the size of a mobile phone - after being recruited to take part in the confrontation by a pal.

The city’s sheriff court heard Scott didn’t know the reason behind the dispute involving Ross and another man.

Sheriff Donald Corke said the incident was “fairly mysterious”.

Scott appeared at the court on Friday and pled guilty to, while acting with others, assaulting Ross and brandishing a taser towards him.

Fiscal depute Anna Chisholm said the incident took place at around 10.30am in the city’s Muirhouse area.

Ms Chisholm said Ross was near the restaurant where he worked when a grey car appeared and three men emerged onto Muirhouse Gardens.

The court heard Scott, who came from the rear passenger seat, was in possession of a taser which the victim described as “similar to a phone”.

Ms Chisholm said Ross only realised it was a taser because of the “electronic noise” it emitted.

She added: “That item was brandished briefly towards (Ross) in the course of the incident.

“The three males made their way back to the vehicle.”

The prosecutor said Scott was later identified by cops from CCTV footage taken on October 7 last year.

Defence agent Matthew Nicholson said the car’s driver was known to Scott who told him he was in dispute with Ross.

Mr Nicholson said his unemployed client was given the taser and was “unaware” of what the row was over.

Sheriff Corke sentenced Scott, of the city’s Leith area, to 100 hours of unpaid work.
