Scots SEAT dealership boss honoured for helping community

A DIRECTOR of a family-run Scottish car dealership has once again been recognised for her outstanding community work.

Jan Livingstone, customer service boss at SEAT retailer W Livingstone Ltd, has won the 2022 Institute of the Motor Industry Patrons Award.

The institute created the honour as it realised the automotive sector was full of generous individuals and businesses doing a lot to support their wider local communities.

Those efforts have been thrown into sharper focus by the coronavirus crisis, so this year’s winner truly needed to show how they had gone the extra mile to help others.

Jan, whose showroom is in Uddingston, Lanarkshire, was selected as the winner for her tremendous work with a community action group throughout the pandemic.

Institute boss Steve Nash said: “Jan’s recognition of the importance of community spirit mirrors the ethos of the IMI.

“Despite the business challenges the pandemic brought to dealerships nationwide, Jan immersed herself in volunteering in the community as part of a local action group.

“From arranging prescription and shopping collection for shielding residents to organising cooking and distributing food and essentials to those in need, Jan’s support was unfailing.

“Not only was she key in organising donations and suppliers, but she also rallied new volunteers to help with the distribution of hundreds of meals every day.”

Jan was presented with the award at the IMI annual dinner in London by ITN newscaster Nina Hossain, Mr Nash and Daniel Temple from award sponsor Alphera Financial Services.

A W Livingstone Ltd spokesperson said: “All our staff couldn’t be prouder of Jan for receiving worthy recognition for her tireless efforts throughout the pandemic, supporting those in most need within our wider community.”

Jan had previously won the C.A.R. (Community Activity Recognition) Star Award from the Scottish Motor Trade Association for her charitable work.
