SCOTS proud of looking after their cars are being encouraged to enter a competition to find the UK’s best home garage of the year.
The pandemic has seen an increase in Brits kitting out their domestic garages and Halfords is on the hunt to crown one of them 2022’s finest.
Possible winners include the likes of enthusiasts bringing an old car back to life, improving a car’s spec, or having simply created a fantastic workspace.
The automotive household name’s competition is being supported by the Halfords Racing with Cataclean British Touring Car Championship team.
So Knockhill-based triple-champion Gordon Shedden is among the judging panel that includes his Honda Civic Type R team-mate Daniel Rowbottom and Halfords technicians.
The overall winner will receive a cash prize of £5000, a Halfords Ultimate Garage Bundle, and a 10-year membership to Halfords Motoring Club. The two runners-up will receive a £250 Halfords gift voucher to be spent online and in store.
Halfords boss Andy Randall said: “We operate more than 600 full-service garages across the UK, so we are well aware of the importance of having a practical, well-equipped garage that functions just how you need it to.
“We can’t wait to see how people have designed their home equivalents and what one gets crowned the Garage of the Year.”
Last year’s winner, Alex Young, said: “Winning the competition was such an honour. My garage has been in my family for 35 years, has seen loads of classic Ford cars get a well-needed revamp, and holds dear memories.
“The cash prize and garage bundle helped me to elevate my garage even further and meant I could put even more blood, sweat and tears into improving my motors.”
