Jesse Rae could be Scotland's oldest contender for the dance charts at the age of 71 but the cult singer reckons he can still out-move those 50 years younger than him.
The cult Scots warrior, who wears Highland battle dress and still carries a giant Claymore with him wherever he goes, has re-emerged from the shadows to release a new dance version of the traditional Scottish song Loch Lomond.
The eccentric cult figure, who has had huge success with previous hits like Inside Out for 80s soul legends Odyssey, as well as his own tracks like Over The Sea, reckons he could teach millennials a thing or two when it comes to stamina.
Jesse said: “I'm 20 years ahead of my time. Age makes no difference to me and in fact, I’m singing better than I ever sang. If I’m the first pensioner in Scotland to have a top ten record then great. I’m made of hardy stuff and could still fight my way out of a corner if it came to it. Put me on a dance floor and I’ll show anyone my moves. I’m ready to do battle with the best of them.”
Jesse, who refuses to take off his helmet other than to sleep and has remained anonymous in recent decades, is used to carrying around his claymore and says he always will until the day he dies.
He said: “I was born as a warrior of music and I’ll leave as one, but despite the armour plate I’m a lover and not a fighter which is why I reckon Loch Lomond is the perfect song. It has an old world romance story of two lovers and two brothers, one destined to hang the other to be set free attached to it and is so meaningful to every Scot and beyond.”
Jesse has teamed up with EDM/ Commercial House artist Objectz, established by Scottish singer-songwriter Daryl Demarco alongside multiple platinum award-winning English producer Simon Britton.
The track Loch Lomond will be available on Spotify and already has fans clamouring for it from around the world.
Objectz' last single Ignite made industry waves when it hit number 9 on the illustrious Music Week Charts and number 31 in the USA Industry Dance Charts, culminating in over 200k streams on Spotify, and world-renowned DJ producer Don Diablo's team taking notice.
Jesse adds: “I’ve met a lot of people as I’ve wandered the earth and have built up audiences around the globe. We are already getting enquiries from as far afield as Japan. People just want to dance and it’s such an iconic song.”
Loch Lomond by Objectz featuring Jesse Rae will be released by Deevu records on Friday November 18 and is available here.
