A 69-year-old man was rushed to hospital after his microlight aircraft crashed into a corn field in East Lothian.
Emergency services were called to the scene at East Fortune Airfield, near North Berwick, at around 10.50am on Wednesday.
The pilot is understood to have been trapped inside the stricken aircraft - which missed the airstrip and crash-landed in a nearby field.
He was freed by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service before being rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he remains in a “stable” condition.
Staff from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch will inspect the area and gather evidence in the coming days as part of a probe into the botched landing.
