Scots OAP with dementia missing as police launch appeal to trace him

A 78-year-old man with dementia has been reported missing as police have launched an appeal to try and trace him.

Thomas Phillips left his home in Oxgangs Park, Edinburgh and travelled on a bus to Aberdeen on Tuesday, May 24.

He was last spotted at the bus station in Guild Street, around 1.30pm and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

Thomas may possibly have gone towards the railway station looking for a taxi. He could also be disorientated.

Police Scotland have described the pensioner as around 5ft 2in in height, of a slim build, with grey, balding hair.

He usually wears glasses and has a swallow and thistle tattoos on both arms. Thomas walks with a hunch and uses a walking stick.

It is not known what he was wearing at the time of his disappearance but it could potentially be a blue jacket and black jeans.

Inspector Keith Scott of Police Scotland said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned about Thomas.

"He has dementia and could possibly become disorientated.

"He also walks with a hunch and uses a walking stick and I would urge anyone who may have seen him or knows where he is to get in touch.

“We know he took a bus to Aberdeen so I am urging anyone who may have seen him at the bus station to get in touch, particularly taxi drivers.

“If you can help please contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1395 of Tuesday, 24 May, or speak to any police officer.”
