Dramatic images show a Scots nature reserve which caught fire twice on one morning alight.
Firefighters rushed to the scene at Insh Marshes Nature Reserve, Kingussie at around 4.17am on Wednesday, June 15.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) immediately dispatched three appliances and crews extinguished the blaze.
Despite the area being dampened down, the fire had reignited at around 9.45am and had to be extinguished once again.
This time, only one appliance was needed. The firefighters left the scene after ensuring that the area had been made safe.
The fire had broken out on a wooden platform at a viewing hide in the reserve but the cause of it is not yet known.
The RSPB confirmed that no wildlife had been harmed following the incident and that Police Scotland are currently involved.
An SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.17am on Wednesday 15 June to reports of a fire within a wooden structure at Insh Marshes Nature Reserve, Kingussie.
“Operations control immediately mobilised three fire appliances to the location and firefighters extinguished the fire and dampened down the area.
"However, at 9.45am, the same morning, we were alerted that the fire had reignited.
"One appliance was mobilised and the fire was extinguished.
"The crew left the scene once the area was made safe.”
An RSPB spokesperson said: “The fire caused damage to the platform at the viewing hide.
“It was extinguished at the site and no wildlife was harmed.
“The cause of the fire is unknown and the police are presently involved.”
