A Scots mum has slammed Evri after her parcel went missing - despite the courier marking it as 'delivered'. Steph Mason saved up for months to buy a handheld spot cleaner from online retailer Studio.
The mum-of-two's order was set to be dropped off by Evri, with the delivery company sending her a notification saying the package was at her front door - but it was nowhere to be seen.
Steph was left even more baffled when she saw that the 'proof of delivery' photo was just a blurry square, with the time stamp 10.21pm on January 2, 2023. The 36-year-old said several other people in the Leith area have received the exact same delivery notice - with the same picture and time stamp - but are also missing their items.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Steph explained: "They [Evri] didn't even tell me they were coming that day, so I didn't get the notification that they were on their way. When I did get it, it was the following morning, saying it had been delivered at around 10pm the night before."
The frustrated parent then tried to contact the online store she had purchased the item from, but to no avail. She said: "I took it up with Studio, who I ordered it from, but they can't give me that money until they complete an investigation. But I haven't heard from Evri. So I'm completely high and dry without it. And I can't even speak to an actual human at Evri, it's ridiculous."
Steph, who works as a lollipop lady, added: "I'm a single mum, with two young kids and a part-time job. Granted I'm better off than I used to be, but I'm certainly not rolling in it, but this is something I saved for for two to three months to actually buy."
Studio has since issued credit to Steph and marked her order as a 'missing parcel'. However, Evri still has the item noted as 'delivered'.
"With the amount of people who got the exact same notification, at the the same time, with the same picture, it's like a van's worth of parcels have just disappeared," Steph added. "What gets me is that people could be waiting for things like medication, life-saving equipment or things like that, and they might not get it."
Steph said: "I've had issues with Evri on-and-off for over two years. But the past couple of months have been absolutely shocking! I live up three flights of floors, and there's no lift unfortunately.
"Sometimes they would just dump parcels down the stairs. At one point a bunch of parcels were left, some for different addresses, and they smelled of smoke.
"It puts me off buying from sellers who use Evri. I think there should be some sort of law that sellers should say who they are using before you pay."
Another Leith resident, Kirsty Bradley-Hay, 29, was standing right outside her house when she got the notification, just like Steph's, with the exact same blurry photo, claiming her parcel had been dropped off at 10.21pm on January 2. However, neither of her two deliveries - worth £155 in total - have been delivered and she had since reached out to the retailers in an attempt to get a refund.
A spokesperson at Evri said: “We successfully deliver over 700 million parcels a year but occasionally things do go wrong. We are investigating what has happened with this parcel and have reached out to the customer.“
